Lavender

Lavender oil is good for rubbing on sprains, eases joint pain and has proven to have a calming effect when added to a bath. Putting to under your pillow helps to ward off migraines and ensures for a good nights sleep.

It can be used for esthetic purposes as an infusion or as a spray due to its calming and sleep-inducing properties. It is especially suited for skin that has been irritated by the cold, wind or sun.

Lavender was originally native to the Mediterranean coastal region. There it is widely found on dry, warm slopes from Dalmatia and Greece to Tuscany in Italy. It grows in patches up to the forest boundary on dry and rocky slopes. Today, it can be found all over southern Europe. Benedictine monks introduced it north of the Alps.

Rosemary

Rosemary has a very intense and aromatic scent. Rosemary is used externally to increase circulation, as an antiseptic and to speed the healing process.

Rosemary is also a symbol for love. In ancient culture rosemary was a sacred plant for some of the gods (Aphrodite in particular) and it played a very significant role. Troubadours gave the ladies of their choice rosemary, Ophelia wove Hamlet a wreath of rosemary as a symbol of her loyalty and brides in Germany wore a wreath of rosemary long before myrtle came into fashion.
